The PolaArray-1000 is an integrated measurement system for the quantitative characterization of polarization extinction ratio (PER) and polarization axis angle in polarization-maintaining (PM) fiber-array components, including fiber array units (FAUs), PM MTP/MPO fiber cords, and PM fiber V-groove assemblies.
The system is designed for high-accuracy, repeatable measurements in both R&D and production environments.

Description
The platform comprises a broadband optical source with MPO/APC and FC/APC outputs, a motorized linear polarization generator with a free-space coupling module (PolaArray-PM200), and a high-dynamic-range PER meter (PolaArray-ER100).
All subsystems are modular and configurable to support different fiber counts, connector formats, and wavelength ranges. The system includes universal sample holders compatible with both 8-degree angled and 0-degree flat connectors.
The system can be customized to accommodate customer-specific connector geometries and mechanical interfaces. A precision polarization-angle reference artifact with defined angular orientation is integrated to provide absolute calibration of both the PolaArray-PM200 and PolaArray-ER100, ensuring traceable polarization-angle accuracy and long-term repeatability.
The system is supplied with dedicated measurement and control software for coordinated motion control, polarization control, data acquisition, and PER/axis-angle analysis.
The PolaArray-PM200 generates a linearly polarized output with continuously adjustable polarization azimuth and couples the beam into PM fibers or waveguides using motorized XYZ stages, enabling precise alignment of launch polarization relative to the DUT axes. The PolaArray-ER100 is mounted on motorized XYZ stages to support automated PER and axis-angle scanning across one- and two-dimensional fiber arrays and MPO outputs. Coordinated motion control and polarization control enable fully automated array-level PER mapping.
All motion drivers, control electronics, and the system computer are integrated into a single instrument cabinet, providing a stable and repeatable test environment. The system can be extended to support PER measurement of narrow-linewidth ELSFP devices using the fiber-heating-induced polarization evolution method.
